*eat healthier.
buy less processed food. buy more fruit. drink less soda. drink more water. eat more veggies. limit take-out and make wise choices when you do go out. bring your lunch to school on monday, rather than running across the street to arby's.

*put forth effort.
when you look like crap, you feel like crap. when you look good, you feel good. bottom line.

*budget better.
yes this will mean less coffee. and perhaps real therapy would be cheaper than retail therapy. (or, if you insist, at least check out plato's closet and consignment stores.)

*streamline.
go through your home and set aside everything you don't use, wear, watch, eat, or recognize. (start with your closet.) make trips to plato's closet (because every little bit of cash helps), goodwill, and the dare to the care food bank. organize your space (and do some dusting and vacuuming while you're at it), and you'll be able to breathe again.

*get moving.
you want a wii fit -- maybe in a couple months you can make that happen. in the meantime, you know the yoga poses. no excuses. find excuses to walk more. dance. use some silly exercise dvds. i don't care if you're tired after work and class. do something to keep active, because a sedentary lifestyle? not your thing.

*stay connected.
your friends are awesome. all of them. make time to do fun things with your lexington friends (especially if they are cheap or free and don't center around food. or booze.) host board game night. walk around downtown lexington, because you haven't explored it enough. have a potluck dinner and a movie night (yes, child, you are a southern woman by the grace of God--i said -potluck-.) tour the bourbon distilleries, or go to a wine tasting. visit the old friends horse farm. go hoseback riding. go play in the park. just go do things.
keep in touch with your hanover friends, louisville friends, internet friends, and other friends, too. a text message or a facebook wall post isn't too much to ask of you.
and call your granadparents.

*make self-care a priority.
do what it takes to make you happy and healthy. if ordering pizza or buying that new dress will make you happy and keep you sane, go for it. take long hot baths. read for pleasure. write. go play outside. keep up with your webcomics. make plans for parties, spring break, camping trips, days home to see your family. watch vampire diaries with molly and svu and burn notice with michelle. make an elaborate meal just for fun. mother your friends. waste an afternoon reading star trek fanfiction. just take care of yourself, because sometimes, you have to come first.
